Hi All,
I do not know whether this has been already posted in this NG.
My requirement for backup software (freeware, goes without saying) is this.
i) I work and save my files (many types, Word processing files,
spreadsheets, presentation) in a particular directory.

ii) I do backup this to CD or to a backup directory which I later burn to a
CD .

My requirement is that this backup of directory should backup only files
that have changed or newly created files in the source directory.

Is there any freeware that can do this reliably?
I heard about "b4all". Will it satisfy my requirement?

Pl help.

You can easily create a batch file to backup on a click with the
smaller and most excellent xxcopy:

Nice examples of a few of the switches you might need:

This is very small and powerful. There are an intimidating number of
switches, but with the example you can put together what you want to
do and place a link to the batch file on your desktop.

Here is a link and info for B4All: (more details on the page)

http://www.woundedmoon.org/win32/b4all130.html

"Backup4all is a powerful backup utility. Backup4all provides an
intuitive interface to help you define customized backup
configurations. Use it to protect your valuable data from total or
partial loss.

Using the wizard, setting up a backup configuration is easy. It allows
you to setup powerful file filters and schedulers. You can set up
multiple backups and schedule them any way you like. Once a backup is
performed, you can see what files have been changed since last backup
using the tree view mode or you can read the statistics for next
backup execution. You can use context menu from the tree mode to
launch any custom action associated with the file type.

Backup4all uses ZIP compression. You can set the compression level to
speed up the backup process or to minimize the archive size.

Backup4all performs incremental backup to keep track of file versions.
You can easily restore any version of files. You can filter files to
restore. Restores can also be done via any standard zip software,
giving you more flexibility if you need to restore on a different
computer.

Backup4all works with any drive letter, including mapped network
drives and UNC paths. You can back up to inexpensive CDR/CDRW media,
if the appropriate drivers have already been installed.

Backup4all is compatible with Windows 95/98/Me or Windows NT
4.0/2000/XP and requires approximately 4MB of free disk space.

System requirements
===================

No special requirements for hardware. Backup4all is compatible with
all versions of Windows."

See http://tinyurl.com/y3g2 for links to these and others.
I use Polder backup in conjunction with a simple batch file and Win XP task
scheduler to do do daily incremental backup to two locations at literally
is done in 5 minutes max. Good Luck!
