One you back up on a regular basis, say daily, in addition to a main
backup at, say, once a week. The latter you do whenever a file changes
usually using a backup application that monitors folders.

Incremental backs up and clears the Archive attribute, Differential
backs up the file, but does not clear the attribute.
If you take a full backup and then a serios of incrementals, to restore
you have to restore the full, then all the incrementals in sequence, with
differential, you only have to restore the full, then the latest
differential, but the diffs keep growing.
Mike.
