We have been using the IncrediMail addon with Outlook XP. We are inabled to
send outstanding emails with wonderful backgrounds (some of them with moving
partss), and Emoticons.

However: ever since we installed IncrediMail we have been inflicted with
computer freezups, and have had to reboot many times a day. We get warnings
such as "Explorer has caused a problem with User.exe. Explorer will now
close" -- and, of course the computer freezes. Or, similar warnings, that
leave the machine unusable.

Has anyone else encountered this with IncrediMail? IncrediMail is advertized
as a Microsoft certified addon for Outlook.

I don't know what "Microsoft Certified" means in this context, but as an IT
person, I always recommend that people avoid Incredimail (and Hotbar and and
and). Email is really designed for text, and I personally don't want to see
(especially business) mail going out with cute animated smileys and
such...I'm a crank about such things, although I don't actually mind HTML
mail.

But I digress! If you want to test to see whether Incredimail is the
problem, disable it in Outlook, restart Outlook, and see whether the problem
recurs. If it doesn't, well, there's your culprit. Decide whether it's more
important to have a functioning computer or to have cute add-ins. I'm
sticking with the former. Hope this reply does not offend; it isn't intened
to. I just spend a lot of time fixing problems caused by not terribly
mission-critical software people install....

Well, I'm not the one who uses the addins. That's the female half of this
family. And, we don't send serious, business emails with these, but only as
HTML mail.

As a female myself, I won't take any offense at that statement as you've not
taken any offense to my prior ones. :-)

OK - if you disable the addins and the problem goes away, it's an
Incredimail problem.

html is a supported and almost universally accepted email format. Email of
the type you are using is particularly common in Asian countries. I think
you are well within your "rights" to use "fancy" html email and to use
Outlook as a means of expression and conveyance of information that is not
restricted to boring plain text.

Incredimail has worked fine for me.

I doubt Incredimail is causing these problems. Disabling, as suggested,
might show if that is so.

If it is, contact Incredimail support. If not, you'll need to isolate the
cause.
