incredibly slow xp shutdown

Any tips on how to speed up the xp shutdown? It takes ages
after i press the button until the system finally shuts
down.

This behaviour is normal if the system is configured to clear page file at shutdown.

Ah, yes! I remember doing something to the page file a
while back. Not quite sure why I did this, but I cannot
see that it has had any effect on my system.
