Hello.

The question is how much time between a hard drive shutdown and a hard
drive start is better than let it working?

Thanks!

You should get a few answers to this question.
Mine is `Do you leave your car running on the drive 24\7 ?.` If you do,
your starter and battery should last a long time.
best wishes..OJ

Are you asking is it better for the hard drive to turn the system off when
not in use, or the minimum time between shutting a HD off and turning it
back on?

If it's the first question, you'll get many responses from both sides of the
fence.
'My' response is that it really doesn't matter. The extra wear-n-tear from a
cold starting HD could easily be offset by the extra electron migration
taking place on one that operates 24/7.

If you are asking what is a safe time allotment between a hard drive
powering down and powering back on I'd say a few seconds.

your starter and battery should last a long time.

Good analogy...I'll remember that one.

Only the HDD manufacturer will know this for certain on a
modern drive, and they're not likely to give you the test
data on any of their models.

If you'd like a guesstimation anyway, I"d guess about an
hour. The reason being that this kind of interval still
keeps the drive off most of the time (based on average usage
patterns) but doesn't continually cycle it on and off while
you're using the system.
