incorrect value in formula

I am trying to do a percentage change fromm 10,000 to 8000 at year end. It
should be 20% decrease. I don't know if I am doing incorrect formula but
when I try to do: 8000-1000, I get a value of -300000.0%. Why is that? What
is the correct formula?

The decrease is 2,000 (10,000-8,000), not 7000=8000-1000. As a percent
of initial value, that would be 2000/10000 formatted as %.
