I generate maps with symbols in ArcView. I save these
as .WMF files and insert them into powerpoint as a
picture. I do this on my desktop and the symbols show up
correctly in power point. However, when I transfer the
presentation to various laptops the symbols are incorrect
(e.g. O becomes #). How do I recover the correct symbols?

Rick,

I've never used ArcView......but from your post it sounds like a font
problem.

For example if you pick a nice bullet point in the font " England World Cup
Rugby Champions " and then transfer that presentation to another computer
that does not have the same font... then powerpoint will substitute the font
for another font. Then you may see different characters.
