Incorrect reporting of disc utilisation

I have recently been editing a large (20Gbyte) video file. My pc has handled this without any problems, an there a no signs of corruption. However, although the file has now been deleted, various management tools and programs are still reporting that the system has only 35 Gbytes free. As near as I can estimate it I am currently using 11 Gbytes of an 80 Gbytes hard drive.

How can I ensure correct reporting on the use of disc space?

Empty your recycle bin. If using Norton, empty it in two places.
