I have been unable to logon to my 2K server this week from
my Macs wiwthout getting an "incorrect password" message.
I am also running Maclan Connect on some win2k pro
machines and also get the same message. Network has been
up and installed for over a year with no problems. The
only thing I can think of is I installed one of the
Windows Update patches that came in last week and ever
since the connections have been lost. The only one still
working is my FTP server that is running Win2k server but
I haven't installed the patch. I can't think of what else
could be causing this except the patch.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mark!

Patches can be uninstalled using the Add/Remove Control Panel. You might try
testing this.

Also, your patch may have strengthened the password security for your
server. Using the Computer Management console, you can view the Mac File
Services settings and verify that authentication is not set to Microsoft
only.

Hope this helps! bill

thanks for the reply. How do I tell which update was the
most recent? I see a bunch of Hot Fix programs but I can't
seem to tell what dates they are. I'll check the password
stuff on Monday.

thanks very much for the info!

Hi Mark!

Good question! I can't be sure, but each patch should have a Q number
referencing its purpose on Microsoft's website. I'd bet these numbers are
time sequential, so choosing the highest number may mean you'll also be
choosing the newest patch.

Good luck! bill
