I recently installed an ASUS p4p800, formatted, and clean-
installed windows XP professional. When I check under the
hardware manager, it says I have some dual-processing
motherboard. It wont let me remove the motherboard
driver, and I dont know how to get windows to recognize my
single-processor ASUS. Any help would be greatly
appreciated!

It's probably telling you the truth! If you have the P4P800 (I have this
board) and a CPU that supports Hyperthreading then XP will see it as a "Dual
Processor" board eventhough the 2nd CPU is "virtual". This is not an error.

Hyperthreading is turned on by default if the MB senses a Hyperthreading CPU
(mine is a 2.4c GB CPU) the "c" is for the 800Mhz FSB. Virtually all Intel
CPU's (P4 class) at or above that rating support hyperthreading.

It can be disabled in CMOS but you will probably have to do a maintenance
reinstall if you disable it.

FWIW,

Thanks for the help, that makes sense (I just got a 3.06c
GB P4, so that would fit your reasoning) Now the problem
is getting Windows to recognize my ASUS board so I can
use the bios-update utility.
