I am posting this problem on behalf of a fellow user who
cannot connect to the internet and needs help:

I was able to connect to the Internet on Wednesday with
no problem. Then on Thursday; nothing. It won't let me
connect to the Road Runner server. The RR techs said
that my IP address has defaulted back to a Windows IP
address and no matter what procedure they ran me through
it kept the same Windows IP address. It will not allow me
to connect to RR and change to their IP address.
Thanks in advance!

Did RR recently disconnect the service due to an unpaid bill?
Is the modem's MAC address showing up correctly?
Is there a router attached to the modem? If so, disconnect it.

I suspect that the problem lies with the modem's MAC address not
registering or provisioning properly and only RR can fix it from their
end by making a software programming adjustment.

First, try this resetting procedure:

Shutdown the computer and unplug the power cord for the modem
from the wall outlet, wait two minutes, plug the cord back in, wait for all
the modem lights to appear, then turn-on the computer.

If the above does not solve the connectivity problem, then:

Go to Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter. In the
Command Prompt window type: arp -a , and hit enter.
Call RR support and tell them the "Physical Address" shown.
They can take it from there.
