incorrect domain suffix

Hi,

A server is attaching its local domain suffix instead of the trusted domain
that should be added. Does anyone know how to fix this?

For example: Server1 in abc.com domain should know that Server2 is located
in xyz.com domain but when I try and ping Server2 it tries Server2.abc.com

It does this because abc.com is in the DNS suffix search list and xyz.com
isn't.
