I have a very annoying problem printing from Outlook. I'm running Outlook
2000 SP3 on Windows XP SP2.
The problem occurs with my Brother 5170DN which is a duplex printer. On this
printer the "first" side of the page should always be the face-down side. So
when printing on letterhead you should put the preprinted side face down in
the paper tray. However, when printing HTML emails from Outlook (with the
duplex option on) the printer starts printing on the wrong side of the page.
So if I'm trying to print onto letterhead, a one-page email will print on the
wrong side.
My duplex option is on by default, if I turn the duplex option off HTML
emails will print on the correct side.
This does not happen with text emails and does not happen in any other
application -- doesn't matter if the duplex option is on or off. The ONLY
time I get printouts on the wrong side of the page is when printing HTML
emails from Outlook with the duplex option turned on. This is ANNOYING.
A couple of things that may be relevant to this problem:
When printing an HTML email the print dialog box has a scroll list of my
printers from which I am to select a target printer. However, when printing a
text email there is a drop down list of my printers inside the print dialog
box from which I am to select a target printer.
I have no idea why I get different print dialog boxes for HTML and text
emails. When printing from most applications I get the drop down list, but
some applications give me the scroll box version. As far as I can tell it's
always the same within a given application, so Outlook is an exception in
that I get both types of print dialog boxes depending on what I'm trying to
print. But like I said, regardless of the type of print dialog box or duplex
setting, the only time my printouts are reversed is when printing HTML emails
from Outlook with the duplex option on.
I have deleted OutlPrnt and that did not help (even after Outlook created a
new OutlPrnt file).
Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help!
