My problem seems to differ from earlier ones so I hope this is not duplcating.

My post defrag report lists one file (circa 12GB video) that cannot be
defragmented. it is spread around the 7gb hd in large red chunks. anything
I can do to get this sorted?

Not too technical please.

Thanks

Perhaps you should first explain how you got a 12gb file on a 7 gb disk.

It is very likely that a fragmented video file will not display
satisfactorily.

You will need at least 20% free space on a hard disk to do the defrag. In
your case, the defrag cannot succeed unless you have at least 12gb free
space when the program
is trying to do its thing. Also, unless the free space is contiguous, the
defrag cannot succeed.

Assuming that you do have enough hard disk space and also assuming
that you have a second partition that you can use, move the file to
the second partition. Then defrag the original disk. Once that is done
you can move the file back. It will be put back and unfragmented as
possible.
