Incompatiple Scanner

I have an HP 5370C scanner with utility buttons. One button is for fax. The
XP fax program does not allow itself to be launched by the HP button. Is
there a patch? There is a workaround but that's not why I paid for the
button feature. Anyone out there have the same problem.
