Vista Basic was pre-loaded on my computer. I have been trying to install
an USB tv tuner. I downloaded the Vista driver from the maker's website,
Sabrent and when I try to install the software WinDVR, the incompatible error
comes up. "Windows Media Technologies" doesn't come with Vista. On the
Microsoft site, it is listed as article
KB 927913 but doesn't give a solution. I have been in touch with Sabrent and
they mentioned something about WinDVR won't run with Windows Media Center.
I'm totally confused and frustrated. I read somewhere to download Windows
Media Technology from the XP CD. Is this a good idea? I was also thinking of
adding another hard drive running XP and try to install it to it. Would I
just be asking for more trouble by doing either of these things?

The problem is that your operating system (Vista Basic) doesn't support the
multimedia features you want. The solution is to upgrade to Vista Home
Premium or to return the computer for one running Vista Home Premium
instead.
