I downloaded the antispyware programm and installed it as
per the instructions. It seemed to work ok. But when I
closed it no applications on my desk top would work nor
from the start menu. Re-booting didn't help. I had to run
a re-store to the previous day to get my computer back.
Anyone know why this has happened?

Russell,

Was the issue caused by the installation/presence of MSAS on the system
or did you scan the system with it and have it remove files ?

If you have Norton System Works or Norton Internet Security installed on
the system than I'd be inclined to look at those programs as the source
of the issue.

Steve,

Thanks for your response. I'm not very familar with
jargon. What is MSAS? Once loaded I scanned the system
with it and it detected and deleleted some files. It was
then blocking stuff with notifications, so all seemed to
be working OK. But then my system stalled, came back to
life but I couldn't launch anything, not even the spyware
program. And re-booting didin't help. Just about managed
to do a system re-store. I now have windows XP firewall
(SP2), AntiVir Personal Edition, Adaware and Spybot, and
my system appears clean. Been reluctant to re-install the
MS antispyware though, just in case there is a conflict
somewhere. Any other thoughts?

Russell
