Incoming mail alert

I use Yahoo for email, and my machine sends me a
whooshing sound for incoming email. I have tried to
change it to chimes but with no luck. Any suggestions?

Do you use a third-party mail client software? In this case you should
ask the author of the software for help about how to change this.
Third-party software may not use the "New mail" sound that can be
defined in the Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds.
 
From your Out Express, Go to your Message rules and create a profile to
block the word ALERT and attachment file your email. This way you never have
to deal with such email again.
