Hi,

Does anybody know how to set up the "Incomming Connections" setiing on a
Windows 2000 (Profesional) machine so that it a remote machine can dial in
through a Modem?

* My remote machine is trying to dial in (I know this because if I try
connect a Phone to my Modem it rings).
* The Modem is known to Windows 2000 and connected to COM2.. If I run the
diagnostics for the device they pass.
* I've attempted to set up the "Icomming Connections" Connection in the
"Network and Dial-up Connections" window to read from the Modem.

I was expecting a icon to appear in the system tray to say that the remote
device is connected, but nothing happens. Eventually the remove device times
out :^(

Cheers,

Roger

On further investigation I can see that the remote machine is talking to the
local modem (If I change the Init strings I can here them talking), but a
connection is not being established.

If I track down the remote machines log I can see that it's failing because
Windows 2000 insists that the machine authenticate the connection using
MS-CHAP, but the remote machine doesn't know how to do this...... So what I
need to do is disable CHAP on the local machine. Does anybody know how to do
that? If it comes to that, am I asking the question in correct news group?

Roger
