I'm using Outlook 2002. I looked in the View, Options, under Internet
Header, but don't see my address. Is is possible for a spammer to hide
that?
The addresses you see in the "To", "Cc", and "Bcc" headers have absolutely
nothing to do with the actual recipients of a message, just as the "From"
address has no bearing on the actual sender. The real recipients are found
in the envelope RCPT TO command that the SMTP routers exchange in their
handshake. Think of it this way. Suppose you write a paper letter and say,
"Dear Ralph," as the salutation. Now, if you put that letter in an envelope
addressed to "Frank", who's going to get the letter? Frank, of course. The
greeting in the actual letter has no bearing on who the envelope addresses.
SMTP works the same way. If you want, I'll give a more detailed
explanation.
