Ron

I am installing an application (for which my company is
the publisher) that installs a shortcut in the Startup
folder.

MS AntiSpyware reports that an "Unknown Startup Program h
Requires Approval". It lists the Name as "h" and the Path
as "h".

While it's true that our application installs a shortcut,
it's not called "h". I have no idea what this "h" is.
Furthermore, how does one register software so that
Microsoft AntiSpyware does not freak out users by
flagging it is as being "unknown"?

Your report on this is just what MS is looking for and there is an official
route for notifying MS about this bug - HOWEVER, this is BETA software and
you SHOULD NOT be installing this on supported users computers until the
bugs have been worked out and you have tested it with your supported
platform and you are prepared to inform your supported users.

From the TOOLS MENU, use the Suspected Spyware Report Tool to report a
problem to MS, preferrably from an affected machine.

Ron, for the moment at least, the way to get your program listed as "known"
is via the vendor dispute form at spynet.com:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892340 Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)
identifies a program as a spyware threat (Listing criteria and Dispute
process)

This form is not really for the purpose you are looking for, but for the
moment it's the route available.
