Outlook 2002 on Windows 2000 SP3.

After opening a message to read it, the menu and toolbar
icons are inactive (dimmed), but can still peform action
by using keyboard shortcuts (ie CTRL + R for reply).

Seems to happen more often with messages in HTML format,
but occassionally with Rich Text or Plain Text messages.

My NO HELP DESK wants to blow away my profile, but I was
hoping there is a better solution.

Thanks

Is the cursor in the body of the message when trying to view the toolbars?

I just double-clicked the message from the message list in
Outlook, so by default I think the cursor is in the
message body. I use Microsoft Word as my e-mail editor
too, so I'm not sure if that may be causing any problems
as well. I've turned Word off as the editor at the moment,
but as the problem doesn't happen all the time, I'm not
sure if that is the problem or not yet.

Thanks
Andrew
