Cooler Dude

I have 3 "inactive" network icons (1 x wireless, 2 x LAN). At
present I am not utilising any network and the icons show the red
"X".

I have set these 3 icons (and some others) as "Always Hide" in the
Taskbar Properties "Hide inactive icons" section.

On reboot, the 3 network icons appear on the taskbar and their
status has changed to "Hide when inactive". The other icons set as
"Always hide" remain hidden.

Is this a bug or are networks "active" even when not in use?

TIA

A few months before, I had written a Bug Report on the same
"Inactive Icon" problem to Microsoft. Asusual, they never reply
to you. Hope this has been solved in Windows Vista.

You can download the report from: [Bug Report on Inactive Icons]

Let me know your comments.

Thank you. It doesn't solve the problem but at least I know that
it's not just me! I guess I'll just have to live with it (or
disable the networks until such time as I have need for them).

Hey cooler dude.this is not a big problem. If you are not using these
wireless and LAN connections and you do not want to see them any more.just
do this.Open the network connections and disable them .by doing this they
will not come on your taskbar menu.
GOOd luck.
