An inactive icon for a portable media device that does not excist shows up in
explorer & my computer. Any ideas as to how I can get rid of it?

Did it ever exist on that computer? What name is the media device?

Try to see if that program is listed in "add and remove" in
control panel and remove it. If it isn't then go into C:/programs and
look for the folder with that name and uninstall it there. If it is
still there and keeps reinstalling itself then go into task manager
and stop the proccess that is controlling it and then remove the
files.

When I open 'my computer' window it lists C drive, DVD & two folders.
Next to that is a blank icon that reads: Media Explorer (for PlaysForSure
devices)
No Portable Media devices are loaded in Control Panel nor do I own one. I
checked Add/Remove software & Program files - nothing there that thould not
be. This is so baffling to me.....
