Have just upgraded hardware to ABIT KD7A MB with AMD
Athalon XP 2200+ Thoroughbred. Have one stick of 333MHz
512M DDR. Want to keep legacy drives (Maxtor Diamondback
61 ATA100 boot drive) with Win2k Pro already installed.

Have tried numerous times to boot off of CD to repair
install, but will not go into setup. None of the
troubleshooting boots will work either. Have tried every
conceivable BIOS setting to force CD boot to no avail.
Have tried every jumper setting and unplugging all other
drives to no avail.

Suggestions?

You didn't mention what you're trying to do but you'll want to boot the
Windows 2000 setup disks or CD-Rom. The set of four install disks can be
created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the \bootdisk directory on
the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or makebt32.exe (from 32 bit)
and follow the prompts.

Then *F6* very early and very important (at setup is inspecting your system)
in the setup to prevent drive controller detection, and select S to specify
additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to insert the manufacturer
supplied Windows 2000 driver for your ATA controller in drive "A"
