I recently had a motherboard go bad on a PC running
Win2000. I got a replacement from the company and set
everything back up. When I power it on, it starts to boot
up, brings up the "Starting Windows" screen, brings up the
2000 logo and says Loading, but then snaps to the dreaded
blue screen and gives me a "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" I
have tried getting into the recovery console to remove and
put in a new IDE driver but it has not worked.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks

You are pretty much screwed, like I said in another post,
the best you can do, that I can think of, is to recover
your data by getting another HD, putting the OS on it,
boot to it and then importing your old 'foreign' drives.

Nope, I wasn't screwed. Turns out it was easier to fix
than it originally seemed. I ended up throwing in the
Win2000 CD and getting to the screen where it says "to set
up windows 2000 hit enter"

I hit Enter. I chose my partition when it was shown.
I then chose Repair.

It deleted all of the system files and reinstalled them.
The drive is now working fine and all the data was
retained.

What it was, was the hard drive was configured for an
older style chipset from the previous motherboard. It was
trying to use those drivers for the motherboard, and was
not able to do so and causing that error.

deleting all the system files and drivers, and
reinstalling fresh, caused it to get the appropriate
drivers. There may be an easier way to get to those
particular drivers and install new ones, but this method
worked well for me.

When I tried a repair straight from the opening menu, it
didn't work. You have to go into "Setup windows 2000" and
pick your partition, and then do the repair.

Thought I'd post this just for reference.
