I really need some help here. Various folders and files have become
unusable on my hard disk. I don't know what it could be other than I
had just installed Mandrake Linux 9.2 to dual boot. I discovered this
when I clicked a shortcut on the start menu and it brought up the
missing shortcut dialog box. When I try to open the folders with
explorer it says that access is denied. I'm on an administrator
account. What can I do to fix this? My anti-virus doesn't work and
neither does help and support or internet explorer.

Windows XP Professional.

Ok, I am getting very desperate here. I thought of some more things.
It was working fine after I installed linux, so its not that. It
happened after I tried to install scanner drivers for my mustek 1200 TA
scanner. There was an error during the install, it said couldn't
execute the external file c:\Windows\ *twain something or other*
\extendACL.exe. I was sick of seeing the error over and over so I
looked for the file where it said and ran it myself, nothing happened as
far as I could tell so i said ok in the install and it said it needed a
reboot so I did. After rebooting is when it happened. I ran scandisk
on both of my disks, and if no one responds by tonight I guess I'm going
to try to repair the xp installation from the cd.
