I have a Dell Optiplex Gx1 P3 with a new load of Windows
2000 Pro. When I put this hard drive in to my new Dell
Optiplex GX 260 P4, I get this message!
Stop: 0x0000007B
(0xF081B84C,0x0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) INACCESSIBLE
BOOT DEVICE. Is their any way of getting around this with
out having to reload my operating system and setting up
some of my custom programs again.

Boot from the Windows2000 CDROM. When you get
to the first repair/install choice, continue installing.
When setup detects the existing Win2K it will
offer to repair it. >That's< the repair you want. It will
run through the full Windows install which will rebuild
a correct hardware enumeration in the registry.
You won't lose data or configuration, but you will
need to reinstall service packs and updates.

In general (for IDE-based systems), if you change
the disk controller type to "Standard Dual PCI/IDE" BEFORE
you remove the drive, then it will be able to reboot in
another IDE-based system, and you don't have to
go through the process above.

Steve,

Is this done in the Device Manager? BIOS? or through
Jumper settings? I cannot seem to find the IDE spec that
you're mentioning. Thanks in advance for the help.
