Swapped old HD w/ W2K to new mbd/cpu/etc. Get stop error
messages. 0x0000007b, 0xeb81b84c, 0xc0000023 Can't load
new mbd drivers from CD.
Should be simple...what am i missing????

BBHHI - sadly, you're missing the Big Picture. :-( Pls don't kill the
messenger, etc.

It ain't simple to move a W2k system to a new mobo. There's tons of
traffic on the subject in these NGs (search for subjects including 'new
motherboard'). Advice uniformly points to the MS Knowledgebase's several
articles on the subject. You'll probably save yourself some grief and
eyestrain just doing a fresh W2k install. (Check the KB first; I think
there may be a way to run a repair that might pull you through. Or might
not.) Sorry for the imprecision, best I can do.

W2k really ties itself very tightly to mobo drivers and attributes, much
more so than NT4 and any MS predecessors ever dreamed of. Maybe somehow
that's the price of great stability.

Another thing to try is the SysPrep tool that removes the
persistent PnP device location and locates everything
fresh, on reboot. But this tool also removes and gives
the system a new SID.

HI,

I got the same thing..... Changed over to a new P4P800
MBand it will not boot. I can get to F8 and the
options.... but will not run anything(ie safe mode,etc.).
I also tried the emergency recovery disk routine using the
setup disks..... no luck. I also tried to access the
bootlog.txt.... no go. Sucks, all my files are there.
Thank God i backed them up 2 days ago...... After 3 hours
of web searching and messing with this system it looks
like we both need to do a complete new install. If you
find another way pls let me know.... (e-mail address removed)
