What I am about to describe is USER related. I have logged on as
Administrator and I created another user and successfully logged on. That
proves to me that it is not machine related.
When I start up in the affected User, I get the openning screen and a little
bit of the system loads. The network (a local non-domain workgroup) links
are estabalished with no problem. I know this becasue the connections are
password controlled and the password window functions properly. A few
seconds after the network links are complete i get a box that says:
Explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You
will need
to restart the program. An error log is being created
Ok block
Whether I click ok or just close the box makes no difference. The system
just sits
on the opening screen. My desktop and TaskBar Never appear.
As I said earlier, I can avoid the problem by logging on as a differenct
user. I have created a new user. How can I get my Desktop, OE address and
OE message files to the new user? Once I do that I am back to a good place -
and I could then delete the "bad" user.
Of course that would be unnecessary if someone can tell me how to get rid of
the problem itself. Workarounds are always a second-best solution.
