Recently Outlook refuses to launch. The error message does not state specifically what is causing the proble. I have tried the repair utility in windows XP. I finally uninstalled Office completely and then re-installed it with the same lack of results. I did have a virus on my computer, but it was suposedly removed successfully. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you try to launch Outlook?
Do you get an error? If so, exactly what is the error?
Do you only get the splash screen?
What version of Outlook do you use?
Have you checked the PST file for corruption or do you
know how big it is?
What was the name of the "utility" in windows XP that you
used?

I have Office XP Small Business with Outlook 2002, and I have a similar problem. Outlook will not launch, just the splash screen, and it is hung up, and I have to do contol alt delete to get out of it. I have tried a number of times to run the repair function and have downloaded the latest patches, etc, and nothing seems to work. For a time it would eventually boot up in safe mode, but now that does not help either

Is there a way to completely remove Outlook and reinstall? Or do I have to completely remove Office. Are there any warnings I should be aware of in attempting to remove and reinstall?

You may want to read the following article, even
though it is for 2000 the principle is similar:
