inability to access secure websites

for the past 3 weeks i have been unable certain
websites...ones that require passwords I.E. bank, credit
card, etc...
when i go to open up the site i receive a message that
says thsi page is unavailable..it is not my internet
connection because i hooked up another computer to it and
it works fine...i have windows xp and use internet
explorer 6.0 .please help me
 
In Internet Explorer -
1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll down to the Security Settings.
3. Make sure that the two boxes are checked that say
"Enable SSL 2" or "Enable SSL 3".
Try your secure sites.

Another thing you can try is:

Go to start/run
Type in: regsvr32 softpub.dll
