I wonder if it ever occurred to Micrsoft that not
EVERYONE wants Money 2002 to start every freakin time
they start their computer. My mom has that crap on her
computer and, for the life of me, I can't find where you
can disable the automatic startup. I strongly feel that,
since my mother owns the COMPUTER and the license, it
should be up to HER whether she wants the freakin program
to start every time she starts the computer.

(Sorry, I'm a little frustrated and I'm fed up with
Microsoft. This is exactly why I avoid their software as
much as possible.

If you do figure out how to stop this automatic startup script from running,
please let me know. I'm pretty frustrated with it as well.

It isn't Microsoft that did that, it was the computer
company (OEM) such as Dell that did the install.

You can remove the auto-startup using MSCONFIG as some
others have pointed out.
You should also be able to find it in the all-users or
individual users startup menu under programs.

It may also be running as a service, which you can shutdown
using task manager.

First of, this has nothing to do with Microsoft and everything to dow
with whomever it was that installed this way-out-of-date Money software.
Calm down. Feel free to use other software. I'm sure your mother is
capable of running Linux or Apple computers and software. Feel free to
procure and use.

Is it Money, or Money Express that is starting?

See the "startup" folder (Start, All Programs, Start-up) and if thre,
then delete it. Everything in this folder starts automatically. This
use of Startup Folder is fully documented and discusssed in XP's Help.

If the startup not there, then surely it starts via controls in MSconfig
program (mentioned by others in this thread). Look. There are
Knowledge Base articles, accessible via Help, for "msconfig" you can read.

If it is Money Express (which I believe was available in Money 2002),
Right mouse click on the icon in the tray, and change the start up options.

As a last resort, ifyhou mother does not need or want this
(way-out-of-date) software, simply un-install it.
