In Yahoo! Mail, what does "flagged" mean?

In Yahoo! Mail, when you open the Inbox, it lists the various items
you have in the Inbox. At the upper left corner of the list, right
under the title "Inbox", it says "View: All | Unread | Flagged".
I know what "unread" means, but what does "flagged" mean, and how is
it used?

(Omit "nospam" from the user-ID if you prefer to respond by personal
email.)

1. You just posted your question three times. This is not chat; you
won't get replies in several seconds. This is Usenet. Pre-emptive
strike: it's also not a "board" or a "list" or "email".

2. What does Yahoo mail have to do with freeware? It's a web service.

The triple posting was NOT intentional. I was posting the message via
Google, which doesn't always work smoothly. When I typed in the
message and requested for it to be sent, it just sat there and
stalled, and eventually gave me an error message, so it appeared as if
it hadn't worked. So, I decided to send it again. As it turned out,
the one that was sent first had gotten sent twice for reasons unknown
to me.

Since Yahoo is a *free* web-based email service, and since I was in a
hurry to get a response, I cross-posted to alt.comp.freeware assuming
that people who are into free software are also into Yahoo. After
considering what you said, I would tend to agree with you that
*technically* this topic should not have been posted to this group.

Yow. The very act of accessing Usenet through the Google Groups *archive*
pretty much excludes the idea of getting a response in a hurry. Might
want to think about using a real news client. If you're running Windows,
check out Xnews -- can't tell what you're using, because of the Google
Groups thing.
