Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help.

I read an article on MSNBC that said I should download a
new patch from Microsoft after the one I downloaded to
secure against the Blaster virus. So, I went to the link
provided which took me to the WindowsUpdate site,
downloaded the patch and now my computer is in terminal
start-up mode. It gets to the Windows logo screen, then
stalls and then starts a re-boot.

Here is the story I read with the link.

I'm using a crappy Internet cafe computer to write this as
my computer is useless.

Can anyone tell me what I can do?

I can't help, I'm in the same fix! I tried to upgrade to
SP4. It seemed to go normally - and I left it unattended
(it was taking a long long time). When I came back to the
computer it was looping in a reboot cycle. It got to the
Windows splash screen, the status bar progressed normally
to the end, then after a few seconds the computer reset.
I cannot use SAFE mode, or any of the available modes -
it does the same thing. When trying SAFE mode, the last
line on the text screen had to do with Mup.exe - if that
means anything.
I tried to submit a question to tech support, but that
requires a product id, which requires being able to
access My Computer, which I cannot do. So I'm stuck -
hoping someone on this forum can help, and/or that
Microsoft product support monitors this forum and will
help. -Doug
