Hello,

My problem began with me not being able to access my Add
Remove Programs in Control Panel. MSHTA.exe would crash.
Following Microsoft's advice, I ran sfc /purgecache and
sfc /scannow from the command line, to no avail. So, I
followed step two in Microsofts knowledge base article
and performed an "In-Place Updgrade". Now, I get past the
mouse & keyboard setup screen where I select US English
as my language of choice, however, the upgrade hangs on
the "Installing Components" screen at "Status:
Configuring COM+...". Does anyone know why this is
happening, and what I can do to get around it and
complete the In-Place Upgrade?

Thanks,
GuyFromHI

It's balking at your hardware

try disabling your com ports in the bios

or try the in-place installtion with a minimal hardware configuration

Thanks. I'll try disabling the COM ports. How exactly
would I do an In-Place Installation with "minimal
hardware configuration"?

Thanks,
Guy
