Hello all,

I'm trying to install a driver on XP home for a MIDI
musical interface I just bought.

Windows XP is not going to allow me to install this driver
for anything, I am the Administrator and I still cannot
install it.

I continuously get the message:

"In order to install the driver, a user belonging to the
Administrator group (such as the Administrator) must log
on to Windows"

I don't know how much more of an administrator I can be.
I've tried everything I can think of. Even created another
account under the "Administrator" group. Still nothing.

I've never had this problem installing anything before.
What in the world am I doing wrong???

Try doing it in safe mode and use the hidden Administrator account. Boot
the system, start tapping F8, at the menu select Safe Mode. At Safe Mode
you should be presented with a menu of users, one of which will actually be
named "Administrator." Choose that account. You likely didn't create a
password for this account when you installed XP and OEMs rarely assign one
so select that account, leave the password blank and press enter. Then try
installing the driver.
