In Front Page 2003, how do I reset the default location of files? I do not
use "my websites" nor do I intend to...

It's stored in the registry.

Close FrontPage
Run regedit and go here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\Settings
In the right panel, right click: DefaultWebName
then click modify.
Clear the Value data: field and enter the path you want FrontPage to use and then close
the registry editor

Be advised that FrontPage has a tendency to change this value if you work with a web at a
different location.

Steve,

I had the same problem as Jeff and I tried your solution for changing the
registry. Problem is it didn't work for me. FrontPage still comes up with
the default directory, even though the registry still has the entry for my
desired directory. I went in and renamed the default directory thinking if
the SW can't find it, it would use the directory in the registry. That
didn't work either. I just got an error message that the directory could not
be found. Any more ideas on how to fix this?

When I open the software, I want the default site to be a directory on a
network drive. That's all. This just seems like it should be a simple
thing, as it would in Word or Excel.

You can set FP to re-open the last open web / site, not a folder specifically
