In Excel data validation what is purpose of ignore blank check bo

in excel when I use data validation the window of data validation contains a
check box of ignore blanks,but the check box does not show any differance
when it is tick or remove its tick. what is application of this check box.
 
If for example, you use data validation to limit the data entry to whole
number from 1 to 10 and you did not check "Ignore blank", then, Excel will
not allow blanks as a valid input. If you did check it, Excel will
ignore/allow blanks.
