Thanks Russ for the reply...but the problem is that I couldn't set the
dialing location either from Outlook or Control Panel because there was
nothing in the country list. So, after considerable time last night,
here's
what I did to fix it:
I finally tracked down the registry location for the drop-down list
values.
Countries are listed there by country code ranging from 1 to 998 so what I
did was create a duplicate entry for 998 (Uzbekistan) at code 999. This,
believe it or not, fixed the problem. I now have 2 entries for
Uzbekistan
in my list and at the top are a couple of junk entries that don't seem to
actually exist in the registry.
It's pretty obvious that the list in the registry is somehow corrupt but I
don't know how to fix it except with this hack. I tried a WinXP Repair, a
Win Office repair/update and also just installing/re-installing a couple
of
Accessories but nothing else worked.
Since I'm not using a modem or dialing, none of this would be critical
except that Outlook insists on having a country set up to even add a phone
number. This really shouldn't break the application in my opinion but it
does.
For anyone with the same problem the registry location is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Telephony\Country
List
And if anyone knows how to rebuild the list without having to use this
registry trick, please chime in.
Hope this helps

Have you selected the correct country? Did you set your dialing location
correctly for your operating system?

I am unable to select a country/region because none are available.
This,
in
turn, hangs the program and I have to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to get out.
This
is
WinXP and the overall Region Setting in control panel is available and
correct. Anyone know a fix?
