In-cell Dropdowns don't work

I have a workbook with 6 worksheets in it. All sheets
have many cells with different data validation sets. for
some reason, the in-cell dropdown function of data
validation is not working on the first worksheet but it is
on all the others. Even if i erase and reestablish the
data validation, ensuring the dropdown checkbox is
checked, it doesn't work. Please Help!!! This thing is
turning satanic...

Is the data validation in a frozen part of the worksheet?

If so, you could use Window>Split instead, and the dropdowns should work.

You don't state which version of Excel you are running, but Excel 97 had a bug
with DV dropdowns not showing if they were placed above the Window<Freeze
Panes line.

Hi - I have just encountered the same problem - hence looking at these
posts. One just one sheet the drop-down arrow 'suddenly' stopped
appearing. Fine on all other sheets. New drop-down lists in the sheet
had same problem.

I overcame the problem by copying the entire sheet to a new empty
sheet. all worked fine on the new sheet. However when I copied the new
sheet back ove rthe original, it still didn't work on the original
sheet. Very strange !
But problem solved.

Has anyone discovered why this occurs ?
