In Calendar view, can today's date be automatically highlighted?

While using another computer, I noticed that in Outlook, bringing up the
calendar in monthly view, the current date was highlighted. Can't seem to
figure out how to do that on my Outlook at home. Would love for current day
to be highlighted automatically. Anyone know a way?

What version are you using at home? Outlook 2003 highlights the current date
-- I can't remember how many versions back had that feature as well.

The day is automatically highlighted when you open Outlook, but it may not
be apparent based on the Windows color scheme you use. Many only have a
slight gradation for the date while others will highlight it more
prominently.

After furious head scratching, Sandman asked:

I am using standard Microsoft color scheme, and nothing is highlighted in
monthly view when I open Outlook. All is in black and white on the calendar
portion.

I have managed to achieve a situation CLOSE TO Sandman's desired effect (a
workaround of sorts) by using Edit/Automatic formatting. as follows:-

1. I have added a rule called "Today Rule" with Properties label
"Important"
Click Condition/Appointments tab and select "Time : starts"
In the right hand box select "today"
2. Second rule "Next days rule" with properties label "Anniversary"
Click Condition/Appointments tab and select "Time : starts"
In the right hand box select "in next 7 days"

The effect of this is that all my appointments for today are coloured red
while those for the next few days are green and this changes day by day.

I find this sufficient for my purposes but the downside is that if there is
no appointment for today then no red shows. Also of course I don't
personally use the colours for the purposes envisaged by Outlook.
Hope that helps
