In a Reboot/Startup Loop After Windows Update

I just got the Service Pack 4 update for a Dell Lattitude
laptop after installing windows 2000 pro and it went into
a loop of starting up and rebooting.

I can't make it stop and can't start it in safe mode even.

What is the deal with this????
 
Ok I'll answer it myself, My guess is that the update
corrupted a system file and then the "Startup Recovery"
setting" "Reboot on Failure" kept this looping? Why this
is checked by default is beyond me.

I had to re-install windows 2000.

With Windoze updates , who needs viruses?
What do I get to protect me from the updates?
 
i have the same problem -- anyone find a solution? it
reboots each time after the Win2K splash screen.
