In a quandary

I would like to install XP 64 back onto my system, but then I can't use my
capture card. Like many others there is no 64 bit drivers for the card so I
am stuck with XP Pro. I know that I can install XP 64 onto another partition
and switch back and forwards, but what I want to know is if I can install XP
64 first then install XP Pro?
My system is a dual core 3.4 with 4 gig ram and in XP 64 it flies, but as
soon as I run two O/S it slows down somewhat is there a cure for that?

Also, I have tried the link through newsgroups for the XP 64 forum but have
had no luck in finding it.

Any thoughts, suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer for sure on the "which is first". I don't know if the 32 bit boot loader will boot XP 64, but the reverse should be true. See my web site, www.dougknox.com and go to Win XP Tips

For Windows 2000: Install Windows 2000 after XP is installed.

While the above was written for Win2K, it the same deal. Installing 2K after XP causes XP not to boot because the 2K bootloader can't handle XP. Backing up the indicated files from the X64 install and replacing them after the 32 bit install should suffice.

Thanks Doug
