A change to the GUI that I'd like to see is instead of
using the default 'Run Quick Scan Now' button being
displayed in the upper right pane of the main screen, use
the setting the user has selected in the Spyware Scan
page. This improvement would allow a user to use a
single-click to scan their system using the settings they
have previously selected, instead of having to go through
a number of other windows to run the desired scan.
A bigger improvement would be to change the setting to do
a full system scan all the time, and allow the user to
modify that if they so choose. Many antivirus programs
used to be set to only scan program files, but this left
the door wide open for viruses in files such as MS Word
documents, and the like. Now many of the leading AV
programs are set to scan all files by default.
This would also improve the likelihood of returning some
problems, as many problems can be found only using a full
system scan. Since many users only use the setting on
the main screen, their systems might have major problems
they don't even know about. By changing this part of the
GUI, these users might have a better chance of finding
stuff on their systems, and protecting their privacy and
security, and others as well.
