If a programme (Spam Interceptor) is slowing down to open on a right click
on the desktop shortcut icon, what could be the reason (others produce
immediate positive response) and how can one eradicate this problem? Thank
you.

Remove the program. If you need spam control tools, they should not
slow down your system. Try f. e. the MailWasher
(http://www.mailwasher.net), which does not have such side-effects.

Hi Colin,

The information you requested is as follows:
PC by Fujitsu Siemens
Processor Pentium 4 - 3.20GHz
120 GB Hard Drive (over 80% free)
512 MB DDR Ram
GA-81PE 1000 Series Mother Board.
If you want any further information, please ask.

It is the MailWasherPro I am complaing about!

Then I would contact the support for the application. As I wrote,
Mailwasher runs well here, so there may be a problem with your
installation.

Do you have a second hard drive? I assume not since you don't list one. I
improved my virtual machine performance by putting the virtual machines on a
second drive. I use a second SATA internally and a usb2 external and have
used both for my virtual machine files with good success. Given your
hardware, I am surprised that anything slows the vm. Have you tried opening
the task manager inside the vm and watching the processor load while right
clicking the desktop icon?

Many thanks for the suggestion. I will try a second hard drive, since I have
been thinking about installing one. I will also try the other suggestion.
Thanks again.
