LOL--

Who wrote this puppy Jill?

You may be repeatedly prompted to insert the Windows Vista CD when you run
the System File Checker utility together with the /scannow switch
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929538/en-us

LOL you have to be kidding me.

WORKAROUND (If you want to induce Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Faster)
To work around this problem, make sure that the Windows installation files
are available when you run the sfc.exe /scannow command. Then, click Cancel
every time that you receive an error message. The System File Checker
utility will successfully complete the scan operation.

How about Mark Liron (MSFT MVP's) longtime cure for this problem:
www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html

This works in XP and Vista, althought I haven't encountered this problem in
any Vista build as yet. When you deploy it, you don't need to lol click
into infinity as the MSKB workaround urges you to do.

Thanks... nice hack. I'll include this in my vista survival guide.... Shame
you have to do this stuff with a new version though... It should, "just
work"....
