Improve Network Sevices in Vista

Ive been using the Vista since pre Beta 1 and all I can say is that you guys
have to improve upon the network services. I use an on board Broadcom Gigabit
Ethernet controller coupled with a DSL modem and all I can say is that if you
use it for more than a day or two with large file transfers, it crashes, and
you have to reboot.

For the most part, its been a pretty good ride as far as this stuff is
concerned, but its been bothering me a little more lately since I have to
restart like 3 or 4 times a day.
Plus the last time i did an install, with the RTM version of vista x86, teh
network crashed and could never get it working again until i reformatted and
reinstalled Vista.

Are you certain this isn't a driver issue with your NIC?

yup the NIC works fine, Ive used it on XP Pro with no hiccups for a long time
before testing it on Vista, tried a few diff things, such as chking the
diagnostic lights and stuff, the NIC was working but Vista for some reason
blocks access to the net.

Just because it worked in XP doesn't mean the Vista drivers are solid. I've
got a Dell D820 with a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx and it's worked without issue
here. What type of Broadcom NIC are we talking about?

Have you checked the event logs? I noticed that when there are TCP/IP
errors, Vista tends to disable the network device. I can repro that by
accessing SMB drives.

It would be helpful if you can be more concise about your scenario and the
specifics of the problem.

For example, what do you mean by "I use an on board Broadcom Gigabit
Ethernet controller.... it crashes, and you have to reboot"?

If your system experiences a blue screen the system will automatically
reboot (unless you have changed the default settings) so your statement from
above is not clear. Does your system experience a blue screen or or
something else?

If it is something else, what is it? You cannot access the Internet, your
system hangs (mouse doesn't move etc.)?

Thanks
