When I try to import an existing wmv file into Movie Maker I get this
error message:
C:\Video\VTS_01_1.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many
methods to fire events from
I have no idea what this means or how to correct it. Does anyone know?

FWIW...a file with the. mpg extension is not
a .wmv file.
Sounds like you have a .VOB file (copied
from a DVD) that was renamed to .MPG.
Maybe the following info will be useful:
First...rename the file back to .VOB and try
converting the file to .wmv or .avi using the
following free converter:
SUPER © Simplified
Universal Player Encoder & Renderer
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/SUPER
(the mirror download site is faster)
(FWIW...it's always a good practice to
create a System Restore point before installing
new software)
After installing SUPER...open the program and
drag/drop your .VOB file into the Active field.
Output Container...choose...wmv.
Video Scale...select...No Change.
Left click the Encode button.
Simple Profile / OK.
(FWIW..I have better luck with video if I do not
try to multi-task while a file is being converted)
When the file is converted...you should find it in...
Program Files / eRightSoft / Super / OutPut.
Or...you can type...Ctrl+T...to open the Save
Window and choose a save folder.
Good luck...
