I have exported all my contacts' email addresses from Outlook 2003 to a CD as
a WAB file. I double clicked on this file on my new PC and it said it was
importing the addresses to my Contacts in Outlook 2007 - but they're not
there - just an administrator entry has turned up. I've tried this twice and
shutting down/reopening Outlook but no joy. Any suggestions gratefully
received. Thanks, chrissyd.

Now Export your OL 2003 contacts to a CSV file then try importing the CSV
into OL 2007.

Outlook-specific newsgroups include:

microsoft.public.outlook.general
microsoft.public.outlook.bcm
microsoft.public.outlook.calendaring
microsoft.public.outlook.configuration
microsoft.public.outlook.contacts
microsoft.public.outlook.fax
microsoft.public.outlook.installation
microsoft.public.outlook.interop
microsoft.public.outlook.printing
microsoft.public.outlook.program_addins
microsoft.public.outlook.program_forms
microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba
microsoft.public.outlook.teamfolders
microsoft.public.outlook.thirdpartyutil

Why an earth did you do that?
With outlook closed on your old PC, locate the data file, probably named
outlook.pst, copy it to a thumb drive, from there to Documents folder on new
PC
If you used a cd to copy, once the file located in Documents folder, browse
to it in Explorer, examine properties and untick the read only attribute.
Within Outlook, File>Open>Data File.......browse to this data file & open it
Then copy whatever to your origonal data file

Because I'm a user not a techie who hangs on to PCs for years and years and
so has no need to know stuff like how to transfer addresses. I just did what
the help buttons suggested. :-) I'll give your suggestion a go - if the old
PC will open up one more time (doubtful) so may have to follow PA Bear's
advice and convert to a CSV file.

Now I know why I exported to WAB - it picks up all my address subfolders (7)
- whereas I can't find a way to pick them up via CSV - I just get the
addresses in my main file folder. Old PC crashed again anyway - so will try
again in a few hours. Thanks though - at least I got the bulk of the
addresses through. :-)

Thanks for this - found the WAB files in Contacts under 'myfolder' and have
been able to group into subfolders before importing them into Outlook 2007.
Might not be the most elegant way to pull through 7 sub folders of addresses
but seems to work. Thanks again, chrissyd.
